Android and IOS are without a doubt the two most popular mobile operating systems in the world. Though they share many similarities, there are key differences between the two operating systems.
In terms of user interface, IOS devices are much more user-friendly and have a feature called ‘Widgets’ which allow you to lock certain settings in place. IOS operation is also more consistent since its platform remains unchanged. Android’s user interface is more customizable but can get overwhelming with different versions released for different devices. This may lead to compatibility issues and performance issues.
Security wise, both operating systems match up pretty well. IOS devices are known to be more secure, but recently Android has stepped up its game and offers the ‘Verified Boot’ feature to make sure you have the latest security updates. IOS devices still get the advantage of updates being pushed out much quicker.
In terms of application diversity, IOS devices offer access to the Apple store, which houses over 2 million different applications. Android devices offer access to a Google Play store with similarly sized options yet take it one step further, offering side-loading capabilities to run significantly more applications.
Overall, Android and IOS both offer two solid user experiences. Choosing the best platform depends on the user preference, budget, and hardware features.
